Mins to Round Top, Retreat beneath the live oaks

Our family including 3 children 3 and under stayed at the house in Burton while attending a Wedding at a venue about 40 minutes away. The house was a perfect size. Plenty of room for the 6 adults. The location was peaceful and quiet. Communication with the host was clear and helpful. We appreciated the opportunity to check in a few hours earlier for a nominal fee. There were no issues with the electronic lock. The house was clean. Plenty of towels were available. There are extension cords under the beds to plug in phones and other devices. We enjoyed our stay and recommend highly!

We had a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this day or rental company. We arrived late at night with a group of six adults and two dogs, only to find the house was not cleaned – there was hair in the bathroom, dirty laundry throughout, and unmade beds. Given the remote location and late hour, this put us in a very difficult situation. We tried contacting the host twice, but communication was limited to text and with poor Wi-Fi it nearly took 45 minutes to send photos to both the host and Airbnb support. Help was only offered after, but by then it was already very late and the suggestion to clean the place at that hour was not realistic. Ultimately, we had to cut our trip short and drive home around 11 PM, which ruined the vacation. While we were reimbursed for the stay, it does not make up for the stress and disruption to our vacation. Lastly, the host also asked us to not leave a negative review as this was a “one off”. Overall, a very frustrating experience.
